Over 1640 smallholder farmers from 22 hillsides in Ngozi, Burundi bring their Red Bourbon coffee cherries to the Gihere Central Washing Station for processing.

Foundeded in 1984, Gihere enables it's farming families to sell their coffee at fair prices and avoid the high labor and time costs of processing in order to spend more time pursuing other projects and income generating activities. Gihere also participates in a number of farmer outreach and support projects include a goat and pig project, Farmer Hub, strengthening cooperatives and distributing fertilizer and coffee trees.  This information was sourced by our importing partner Collaborative Coffee Source.

Fun fact: 6 kilometers away from Gihere, a famous Prince named Bigayimpunzi democratized coffee farming and boosted the livelihood of thousands of locals by making it there main crop, leading them to call coffee “the precious cherry”.

You may say this super lively coffee is "a party in your mouth" or is like a pack of Skittles helping you "taste the rainbow". However you wanna talk about is fine with us, just don't sleep on the lime-like acidity, berry sweetness, pleasant floral finish... hold it close like your tiny dancer.
